Work Detail

Recruitment Background Towards the practical application of optical quantum computers and a dramatic improvement in computational performance, further increasing the purity of "squeezed light," a core resource, is an urgent necessity. To break through this highly challenging technical issue and extract the ultimate performance of quantum mechanics, deep and broad academic knowledge is essential. We are seeking researchers who can autonomously lead research activities while overseeing the entire optical system and co-create the foundation of next-generation hardware. Job Description As a member of the Fundamental Unit, you will lead research on increasing the purity of free-space squeezed light using PPLN waveguides as a light source and improving the precision of measurement. Squeezed light is a fundamental resource light that is key to realizing the optical quantum computer we are developing, and this research will play a central role in dramatically improving the system's performance. In this position, you are expected to demonstrate not only the execution of experiments, but also original ideas, advanced experimental skills, and project management abilities in quantum optics experiments. - Identifying and resolving physical bottlenecks for improving the purity of squeezed light, defining requirements, designing the entire system for principle verification, and constructing and evaluating experimental systems. - Analyzing various noise sources (optical, electrical, and environmental noise) in homodyne measurement systems, and planning and implementing approaches for noise reduction and high accuracy. - Proposing new experimental methods based on the latest academic paper research and promoting verification experiments. - Actively participating in discussions on technical direction within the experimental team, and providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior members.

Ideal Profile

Eligibility Requirements (Required) - Degree: Master's or PhD in one of the following fields: - Optics (Lasers, Nonlinear Optics, Squeezed Light, Gravitational Wave Interferometers, etc.) - Quantum (Quantum Information Physics, Quantum Optics, etc.) - Research Experience: At least 3 years of experimental research experience (including doctoral research period) - Autonomous Experimental Ability: Ability to autonomously carry out the design, construction, measurement, problem identification, and solution of quantum optics experimental systems - Technical Skills: - Experience in handling and aligning optical elements in free space and fiber optic systems - Basic knowledge and experimental experience in nonlinear optics (PPLN, etc.) - Experience in operating and evaluating measuring instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, etc.) - English Proficiency: Ability to communicate smoothly with other researchers and quantum computer experts Eligibility Requirements (Preferred) - Experience writing peer-reviewed academic papers as the first author - Knowledge and experience in research using squeezed light or continuous-quantum (CV) quantum computing - Research experience in homodyne measurement - Experience in managing research projects or mentoring junior researchers - Conversational Japanese language skills / Experience working at a quantum computing-related company Desired candidate profile - Ability to understand hardware from a fundamental level and approach it using both theory and experiment - Ability to independently formulate hypotheses for unknown technical challenges and persistently drive verification and problem-solving - Ability to mentor junior members, enjoy open discussions within the team, and spread technology
