Job Type
Satellite Laser Development Engineer
Work Detail
We develop payload equipment and satellites for the Space Debris Removal Project, which uses lasers to remotely control the attitude and orbit of space debris, and the Satellite LiDAR Project, which observes the Earth's surface by shining a laser at the ground from a satellite.
We are looking for a development engineer for the laser, a key component of the Mission Department.
Specific job duties are as follows:
- Evaluation and verification of various optics (optical crystals, optical elements, optical components, etc.)
- Laser assembly and adjustment
- Evaluation, verification, and testing at the component and system levels
- Evaluation, verification, and testing of optomechanics (mechanical and thermal environmental testing, etc.)
- Verification and evaluation of space power supplies and driver development products
- Heat dissipation system evaluation, verification, and testing support
- Work related to assembly, evaluation, testing, and launch preparation of mission components, including lasers
Note: We welcome candidates who wish to gain experience or master laser development through consultation with engineers with over 20 years of laser development experience. Furthermore, experience is not required for space-specific tasks not required for ground-based equipment development (thermal control systems, environmental testing, etc.), as support is available from engineers with over 30 years of satellite development experience.
Ideal Profile
- Master's or Ph.D. in Engineering or Science (including prospective Ph.D. holders)
- Basic knowledge and experience of solid-state lasers
Other preferred experience:
- Experience developing pulsed solid-state laser devices
- Basic knowledge of materials mechanics, structural mechanics, heat transfer engineering, general electronic circuits, and radiation
- Practical design and analysis experience in the fields of optics, mechanics, electricity, and heat
- Practical experience using optical simulators (e.g., Zemax)
- Experience working with international partners using English
- Experience in the space industry
- Passion for developing new technologies: Interested in laser and optical technology, willing to tackle unknown phenomena, and persistently pursue solutions.
- Customer-centric technological innovation: Committed to challenging new technologies to realize customer value, responding quickly to development challenges, and achieving results.
- Analytical and prioritization skills: Ability to logically analyze issues, prioritize them based on the effectiveness and feasibility of countermeasures, and take action.
- Information gathering and analytical skills: Someone who is sensitive to market and academic trends, and can actively collect and analyze information and utilize their knowledge.
- Collaborative and communication skills: Someone who can work together with teams and customers, communicate smoothly, and enjoy solving problems.
What we especially look for in a PhD or postdoctoral fellow
We expect those who have obtained a doctorate or are planning to obtain a doctorate to be involved in development as "immediate assets" based on the expertise and experience they have gained through their research.
