Drug discovery research positions are at the very top of drug discovery, covering everything from basic research to non-clinical research for drug discovery. Through our "Focus Area" approach, we are engaged in daily research activities at bases around the world, including exploratory basic research, including the identification of flexible and efficient drug discovery opportunities, cutting-edge drug discovery technology research, and development research that links development candidates to clinical trials.

Ideal Profile

Candidates must be able to join the company in FY2026 and have obtained or are expected to obtain a PhD by the time of joining the company. Candidates must be able to discuss in English with researchers from diverse backgrounds both inside and outside the company in a global environment, or have the desire to do so. Candidates must have expertise in the field of life sciences that can be utilized in non-clinical pharmacokinetic research.

In the pharmaceutical industry, where the time and cost of developing new drugs is increasing year by year, the development of AI technologies such as machine learning and deep learning, and the improvement of computer data processing speed are expected to play a major role in solving this problem, and are actually bringing about decisive changes such as shortening the drug discovery process and significantly improving the development probability. Our company has a unique approach of "manipulating cells with big data extracted from cells to create new drugs" and is acquiring cellular big data. We are looking for researchers who are motivated by a wide range of research and development from basic to applied, and can promote the development of machine learning and data analysis technologies for new drug discovery and the practical application of regenerative medicine. We can analyze and apply large-scale, high-precision cellular big data, which is possible only because we are developing cutting-edge experimental and analytical technologies. Specifically, we develop a wide variety of machine learning algorithms such as the following in our own research and collaborative research. ・Analyze the types and ratios of cells contained in cell samples at the single-cell level using (semi-)supervised learning to identify cells and genes related to disease mechanisms and drug discovery targets ・Use causal inference algorithms to estimate gene regulatory networks and understand the principles of cell activity and the causes of disease ・Use Bayesian optimization to create experimental plans to optimize cell culture conditions and manufacturing processes for regenerative medicine products ・Use segmentation to extract the shapes of individual cells from microscopic images and evaluate the cell culture status and shape responsiveness to drugs We are looking for someone who can brush up on these tasks and promote them. In addition to these tasks, we are also looking for someone who can proactively propose new analysis methods using data from inside and outside the company and create new value that leads to the practical application of drug discovery and regenerative medicine. Depending on aptitude, you may be ordered to transfer to tasks specified by the company.
