In connection with the JSPS Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research "International Joint Research Acceleration Fund (International Leading Research)" (theme: Scientific research into the structural changes of matter and fields in solids and plasmas under extreme conditions caused by power lasers), we are conducting measurements of electromagnetic fields and density structures in gases and solid plasmas using high-intensity lasers, as well as quantum beam measurements of particles, etc.

Ideal Profile

(1) Those who have received or are scheduled to receive a doctoral degree. (2) Those who have experience in research using high-intensity lasers, radiation measurement, or plasma measurement. (3) Those who have received a doctoral degree within 8 years as of the date of employment. However, for researchers of foreign nationality, those who have received a foreign license or qualification that the NIMS recognizes as equivalent to a Japanese physician, radiological technologist, or medical physicist within 8 years as of the time of new employment and who are recognized as having the same abilities as those who have received a doctoral degree are also eligible. If they have taken maternity leave as stipulated in the Labor Standards Act, or childcare leave or family care leave as stipulated in the Childcare and Family Care Leave Act after obtaining their doctoral degree, those who have received their degree within 8 years as of the time of new employment are also eligible, excluding those periods. (4) Those who have worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the NIMS are not eligible to apply.

Satellite Laser Development Engineer

We develop payload equipment and satellites for the Space Debris Removal Project, which uses lasers to remotely control the attitude and orbit of space objects (debris), and the Satellite LiDAR Project, which uses lasers from satellites to observe the Earth's surface. We are looking for a development engineer for lasers, a key component of the Mission Department. Specific job duties are as follows: - Evaluation and verification of various optics (optical crystals, optical elements, optical parts, etc.) - Laser assembly and adjustment - Evaluation, verification, and testing at the component and system levels - Evaluation, verification, and testing of optomechanics (mechanical environment testing, thermal environment testing, etc.) - Verification and evaluation of space power supplies and driver development products - Heat exhaust system evaluation, verification, and testing support - Tasks related to assembly, evaluation testing, and launch preparation of mission parts including lasers Note: We welcome those who want to gain experience in laser development or want to master it through consultation with support from engineers with over 20 years of experience in laser development. In addition, experience is not required for tasks specific to the space field (thermal control systems, environmental testing, etc.) that are not required for ground equipment development, as support is available from engineers with over 30 years of satellite development experience.
