Satellite laser driver development engineer

Work Detail

We are developing payload equipment and satellites for the Space Debris Removal Project, which uses lasers to remotely control the attitude and orbit of space debris, and the Satellite LiDAR Project, which uses lasers to observe the Earth's surface from satellites. We are seeking an engineer to develop laser drivers, a key component of the Mission Department. Specific duties include: - Design, prototyping, and evaluation of various drivers for pulsed solid-state lasers - Development of test equipment for various drivers for pulsed solid-state lasers - Onboard design of various drivers for pulsed solid-state lasers Note: We welcome candidates who wish to gain experience or master laser development through consultation with engineers with over 20 years of laser development experience. Furthermore, prior experience is not required for space-specific tasks not required for ground-based equipment development (e.g., satellite onboard design and environmental testing), as we will provide support from engineers with over 30 years of satellite development experience.

Ideal Profile

- Master's or Ph.D. in Engineering or Science (including prospective Ph.D. holders) Other experience and knowledge in any of the following is preferred: - Experience in low-noise signal processing, wideband (up to several hundred MHz) baseband signal processing, or analog-digital mixed signal processing - Experience in the space industry - Passion for new technology development: Interested in laser and optical technology, able to tackle unknown phenomena and tenaciously pursue solutions. - Customer-oriented technological innovation: Committed to challenging new technologies to realize customer value, responding quickly to development challenges, and achieving results. - Analytical and prioritization skills: Ability to logically analyze issues, prioritize solutions based on their effectiveness and feasibility, and take action. - Information gathering and analytical skills: Sensitive to market and academic trends, able to proactively collect and analyze information and utilize knowledge. - Collaborative and communication skills: Ability to work with teams and customers, communicate smoothly, and enjoy solving problems.

What we especially look for in a PhD or postdoctoral fellow

We expect those who have obtained a doctorate or are planning to obtain a doctorate to be involved in development as "immediate assets" based on the expertise and experience they have gained through their research.
