Job Type

Optical Engineer

Work Detail

As a member of LQUOM, you will be engaged in the development and applied research of quantum communication systems through collaborative research with Yokohama National University (Horikiri Laboratory, Graduate School of Engineering). You will be involved in a wide range of activities, from research and development to system implementation and product commercialization, to translate cutting-edge research results into societal implementation. Specific examples of research and development you may be involved in: Skills in one or more of the following 1-5 are desirable: Development of optical systems such as quantum memory using rare-earth doped crystals, entangled photon sources, and laser phase-locking systems Development of digital and analog control systems for stable operation and performance improvement of optical systems Miniaturization and modularization of quantum repeaters Theoretical research on quantum repeater protocols and performance improvement of quantum repeaters Theoretical study of implementation methods for applied technologies such as quantum key distribution and distributed quantum computing using quantum communication

Ideal Profile

[Optical Engineer] [Required] Experience in optical and electrical system evaluation, 3D CAD, and the ability to create detailed development documentation. We are looking for someone who can design and improve laboratory technology into robust, product-level systems and quantitatively document it in specifications. Details Experience in optical and electrical system design and evaluation, as well as 3D CAD, is required. We particularly value the ability to elevate research-stage technology into a "product." A high level of documentation ability is required to analyze unstable phenomena and translate them into reproducible drawings and specifications for third parties. Rather than pursuing the highest performance, we welcome someone who can choose a "reasonable solution for implementation" considering cost and stability, and who can diligently perform quantification and improvement. A master's degree is required.
